The Invitation Letter

Fellow Coaches,

East Chapel Hill High School enthusiastically invites you to attend our Third Annual Open Tournament on Saturday, November 4, 2006.  Once again this year our students, parents, faculty, and coaches are working tirelessly to make your visit to Chapel Hill the highlight of your year!

Though we return this year to the traditional, local four round format for one-day tournaments, we are excited to again offer several innovative ideas as part of our tournament.  Some of this year’s highlights will include:

-          Rare double-entry opportunities for Public Forum and Lincoln-Douglas Debaters.

-          Free entry for Policy Debate to do our part to assist those who wish to see the event return to North Carolina.

-          Schools traveling more than 175 miles one-way to our tournament, after verification based on Mapquest estimates from your school to ours, will receive deeply discounted registration in an effort to provide excellent competition against teams not often present in our state.  North Carolina schools to which East has not recently reciprocally traveled (schools hosting tournaments for at least the last 3 consecutive years without ECHHS attending) are also eligible for this discount.

-          Exciting hospitality features including unique concession stand offerings, a fantastic Judges’ Lounge buffet, guest debate judges from local universities, and pre-awards entertainment from East’s tremendous performing arts programs.

This year we will again offer registration through the convenience of www.joyoftournaments.com.  You must make your initial entries on Joy of Tournaments by Wednesday, October 25, 2006 so that we can estimate the number of schools and students attending.  You may continue to add and drop without forfeiting entry fees until 6:00pm Thursday, November 2, 2006.  Please carefully read the enclosed rules that will govern the events offered at our tournament.  Feel free to call or e-mail me if you have any questions, concerns, or if you just want to let us know that you plan to attend.  We have a great group of students, parents, community members, Carolina forensics alumni, and coaches who look forward to welcoming you to “the southern part of heaven.”  We genuinely hope to see your team on Saturday, November 4, 2006!

Sincerely,
